Rode to work this morning. 10 miles at 19.7mph. Enjoying some nice temps for a change! Trying to get use to the idea that it might be some time before I am back into the full swing of running. Might try some inserts, barfoot running is also an option. I've read about that and I am not sure its a valid option. Just doesn't make much sense to me. At this point I am willing to try anything.

15 miles at 21.6mph on a very pleasant afternoon. 10 mph breeze from the south, so I decided to take off south while the legs were fresh. Nice ride! Clipped along pretty good going with the wind.

What a difference a day makes! 40's and lots of wind and clouds. Rode the mountain bike today and went through town curb hopping. Rode about 10- miles with good effort.

Windy, cool day. Tough ride home in the wind. Had fun on the mountain bike. Bunny hopping the speed bumps and curbs. 10 miles

Went for a run this afternoon before all the storm clouds rolled in. Managed a mile and 1/2 before the ankle started up. Pretty frustrated with the whole thing at this point. Wondering if I should just right off this year of running and just cycle and leave it at that. Can't figure out the problem. Not sure if I want to do a MRI. The year started out pretty good with some good consistent weeks of running.

I went to work and  the phone book was opened to the physicians section. So I started to thumb through the pages and ended up on the pediatrist section. Thought entered my mind that I ought to give it a try. So like a runner, I looked at all the pictures and adds and made the choice of doctor solely based on if he or she looked like a runner. Well, I didn't get a runner, but I got a fitness guru. He did the normal foot test that I had done weeks ago and gave me the same diagnosis, posterior tibial tendonitis. He wanted me to get back running so he put 5 strips of tape on my foot and told me to try it out. Boy was I skeptical! Managed 4 miles without any issues! At the end of the run I felt  a slight bit of discomfort in the ankle. Oh it is nice to blog about a run. I need to start slow and get things totally healed.

Temp around 70 degrees and lots of wind. It's funny, I didn't mind the wind at all. It was just nice to get out two days in a row and run. Nice and easy today. Hanna is so out of shape! She didn't have the chance or the ability to cycle durning the last couple of months. She'll bounce back. Ankle felt okay. As I finish up the run, I can feel just a slight tghtness in the ankle.

More easy miles after work today. Right now that seems to be the max distance. I start to feel the ankle act up around 3.75 so I call it quits shortly after that. I am happy with the progress at the moment. Nice to be running again.

60 degrees and just a slight breeze this evening. Ran just a bit further today and the ankle felt just fine. I was expecting some discomfort at 4 miles but didn't feel anything, so I ran another mile. So far so good! It's just amazing, just a few strips of tape and I'm good. I just can't get too carried away. Maybe 5 or  6 in the morning.

Ran to work this morning in some ideal conditions, 45 degrees or so and no wind! At about mile 5 the ankle started to act up a bit. Nothing to the point of swelling or hobbling, but it does feel like I should drop the runs back to 4 to 5 mile range for a while. I am happy with that. It could be worse. Just last week I was thinking I was done for another month or two.

Ran after work so I could get a few extra hours of rest with the foot. Right at mile 5 I started to feel some pain. Stopped at 5.30 before it bit too hard. Take little bites here and there and hopefully I will get a break through in the near future and  be up to running a 10 miler.

Well, it's been a bit crazy to say the least. Last week I went for a quick run and felt like my tape job was to tight and it was cutting into me. I took it off as soon as I got home and found out that it was a blister not the tape cutting into my foot. The problem is that I found out after I pulled my skin off my foot, about the size of a 50 cent piece. Needless to say it took a while to heal. I headed off to work this morning temps about 40 degrees and no wind. Perfect running weather for this time of year, or for that matter anytime of the year. after 5 miles my tendon started to hurt again. I finished off the run and had a hard time walking the rest of the day. I got home and realized it had swelled up and very tender to the touch. I called the doc and decided to try some orthotics. The tape seemed to work for a brief period of time but not what I would like. I have thought that orthotics were for individuals with low to flat arches. Mine are med to high so I can't figure out what the real issue is. Maybe my arch is just collapsing and just can't handle anything stressfull now.

Ran just three miles this morning before work. Nice morning.... 40's and just a slight breeze. Pain free run for the most part. I can sure tell that it is on the brink of swelling and hurting though. Went to the doc yesterday for orthotic fitting. We will see how that goes in about a week and a half. Hopefully it will help!

Easy miles this evening with temps at 75 degrees and no wind. Just a dull ache the last mile. Had my son on the bike and Hanna with me. I have been trying the KT Tape this past week. Its about the same as when the podiatrist wrapped my arch. The one thing about the KT Tape.... it looks cooler.
