Completed 9 marathons with mixed results. 3:38 being the best out of the 9. It's been several years since I have participated in a marathon. Priorities and health have played a roll with racing the last few years. Hoping to get out and participate and have some fun.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Really want to race again. 5k's to the marathon. Love to qualify to run Boston at some point.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and family balanced and be as fit as I can so I can run and play with the family.

Personal:

Happily married for some time......5 great kids that overachieve in whatever they choose to do.

Blog titile explanation: Been diagnosed with a brain tumor late 2013. With my lack of confidence in the medical field and just not feeling good about it......I will be running with my friend, "Tiny Tim" until further notice.

Nice to be back at home. Great time with the family. Rode to work this morning. 10 miles on a pretty cool morning. Will ride back and give the ankle a try.

Rode home on a cool afternoon. 14 miles avg 19.8 mph so I am going to call it an even 20. Ran a mile after the ride and only made it 1 lousy mile. Worse than last week were I managed 1 1/2 miles. I am not sure what to think.

I hope it doesn't snow. Then you'll be stuck at work.

Dang, not exactly progressing in the right direction. Seen a doctor at all?

Burt I have studs on my bike so I'm prepared for anything. One more thing, when I ride there is a stud on the bike.

Joe.... Ya, I wore the boot for ten days and he thought that would do the trick. I have good strength in the ankle it just can't sustain running right now. I am going to get a follow up and see if he has some magical pill. Isn't that what we Americans thrive on .... Life by Prescription drugs.

I'm still convinced that meloxicam (mobic) is a magic pill. I know they say that nsaids don't cure anything, but I'm a believer!

If it feels good except for running, my guess is that you are pretty close to the end of the problem, just don't rush it like I would do.

Joe and flat... thanks for checking in guys. It really helps me out. I know this is a running blog so I want to blog about running not cycling. Thanks for you patience. flat... I hope that you are right. My love is running but I do feel very comfortable on the bike. Cycling is were I began my rode to aerobic fitness. I still think that I should be able to last longer than a mile running at this point. What's your experience tell you? When it heals will I be able to go 6 or so and build from that point? I hope that I am not stuck building my base mileage from a couple of miles each day!

Rye, I have had two injuries that lasted more than a couple of weeks. The first was a back injury the first year of running (probably unrelated to running but that is another story). I would try and try to run but couldn't. Then all of a sudden I could run a little then quite a bit more, and no, I don't recall there being much of a ramp-up period. I think with a minimal amount of x-training you can do quite well. The second was the first occurrence of my groin injury, which happened in the spring of last year. Same thing, couldn't run for a while but when I could I ramped up quickly. That doesn't mean it will be the same for every injury, but for me it has been a pattern.

That's reason to be optimistic. Thanks for your insight. That waiting game that we love so much....arghhh!
