Completed 9 marathons with mixed results. 3:38 being the best out of the 9. It's been several years since I have participated in a marathon. Priorities and health have played a roll with racing the last few years. Hoping to get out and participate and have some fun.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Really want to race again. 5k's to the marathon. Love to qualify to run Boston at some point.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and family balanced and be as fit as I can so I can run and play with the family.

Personal:

Happily married for some time......5 great kids that overachieve in whatever they choose to do.

Blog titile explanation: Been diagnosed with a brain tumor late 2013. With my lack of confidence in the medical field and just not feeling good about it......I will be running with my friend, "Tiny Tim" until further notice.

Another discouraging run. Managed just a mile and a half. Don't really know what to try next. It has been a solid six weeks of rest. No end in sight at the moment. I have great strength in my ankle but it just basically gives out after a mile of light running.

Ankle huh? That is a head-scratcher. Just hang in there, I'm sure it will improve soon.

flat... I have read tons of information on this posterior tibial tendonitus. The thing I can't figure out is that I have great strenght in the foot area but it just flares up after a short run. The swelling left weeks ago. I am with you....head scrathing.

Tendonitis is no bueno! Sorry!

My wife is fighting PT tendonitis as well, but apparently a less severe case. She uses KT tape to hold up the arch a little (the KT tape people have instructional videos on their website). She also used arch supports which are recommended for it too, if that's what you have (sorry if you know all this already). I think it can also be hard to distinguish between anterior and posterior tibial tendon pain which are treated differently. I've had the anterior version which manifests more on the top of the foot and the crook of the foot. Good luck, I hope you can turn a corner soon. It's crappy to not know when you can run again.

Steam8.. thanks for the sympathy. What injury are you dealing with?

Joe..I have tried the arch support, new shoes etc... my arches are normal to high. It's just so weird that it happened all of a sudden. 18 miler on saturday and monday after 7 it just went out! Orthotics???? How bad is your wifes pt tendonitis?

From SlowJoe on Sun, May 29, 2011 at 20:18:37 from 184.79.24.255

I think her injury was more gradual, it sounds like. She's taken some time off since OKC but it sill bothers her, mostly after a run I think, but sometimes during. She has lower arches though. She just told me that she's wearing an ankle brace for running and it helps; your mileage may vary of course...sorry I can't talk more smartly about it. The orthotics sound like a good idea but I wouldn't take my word for it, maybe a PT could help if you get desperate.

Thanks for the input Joe. I have an idea for my blog title...... Frustrated in Idaho! I have a good friend that's a pt that's helped me in the past with two shoulder operations. Sounds like that is a good start to very frustrating injury. You are awesome! Thanks
