Running Accomplishments:

Completed 9 marathons with mixed results. 3:38 being the best out of the 9. It's been several years since I have participated in a marathon. Priorities and health have played a roll with racing the last few years. Hoping to get out and participate and have some fun.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Really want to race again. 5k's to the marathon. Love to qualify to run Boston at some point.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and family balanced and be as fit as I can so I can run and play with the family.

Personal:

Happily married for some time......5 great kids that overachieve in whatever they choose to do.

Blog titile explanation: Been diagnosed with a brain tumor late 2013. With my lack of confidence in the medical field and just not feeling good about it......I will be running with my friend, "Tiny Tim" until further notice.

Set off today to run a hard 5k but once started I didn't want the run to be over with that fast. 2 mile warm up and then 6:50, 6:45, 6:28 miles.....then 5 miles at 8:15 avg. After the 6:28 mile I felt just fine and felt like I could have kept the pace up for awhile. Slowed it down to run hard another day. Overall felt good this afternoon and legs responded ok. This was a good speed check for me. Felt like I have some good solid base miles in and just try to keep things moving in the right direction.

Well, look who's been busy all week. Thanks for making me look like a complete slacker. Nice running.

I'd say...Really good run! BTW, what's your 5-K PR? with those three fast miles in the middle of a 10 mile run says to me you must be a sub 20:00 runner.

Pretty good sign when you can throw down a 6:28 and feel ready for more! You are definitely clicking along really well right now.

Thanks everyone! I am feeling good about where I am at the moment. That being said, I still have a long ways to go. Just need to be consistent!

IJR... It's been such a long time since I ran a serious 5k I'm not sure to tell you the truth .... low 20's. Seems like when I run a 5k it's for something that my kids are involved with, so I end up running it with them..... you know, playing the good dad thing.

slowjoe.... I am amazed how fast you have become in the past year or so. Does the middle east do that to a runner? What do you think your success has been? Mileage, or speed workout? I know it can't be hills given that you live in flat land country. I'm curious!

Tara, some weeks are better than others... you caught me on a good one for a change. Tell Stephen hi.

That's a great feeling, isn't it?! Hard work is starting to pay off! Good job!

Rye - if you go to the middle east, just be sure to do it during the 2 winter months, I don't recommend it any other time!

Really, I think I've just been lucky to stay basically uninjured (at least from anything serious) for the past year. Just a steady diet of 50-60 mpw - I barely ever make it to the track but have tried to get in a 4-5 mile tempo run at least every other week.
