Completed 9 marathons with mixed results. 3:38 being the best out of the 9. It's been several years since I have participated in a marathon. Priorities and health have played a roll with racing the last few years. Hoping to get out and participate and have some fun.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Really want to race again. 5k's to the marathon. Love to qualify to run Boston at some point.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and family balanced and be as fit as I can so I can run and play with the family.

Personal:

Happily married for some time......5 great kids that overachieve in whatever they choose to do.

Blog titile explanation: Been diagnosed with a brain tumor late 2013. With my lack of confidence in the medical field and just not feeling good about it......I will be running with my friend, "Tiny Tim" until further notice.

Snow is melting today. I believe that we received about 5 inches between yesterday and this morning. Glad it's over! Ran up Sunnyside and down Scenic drive. Avg pace for the run 8:15 The last 5 miles avg pace 7:35 per mile.Wore my heart rate monitor this run to see how my hr was doing. I was around 155 to 162 during the last 5 so I do have some room to improve. Pleased overall. I did take a fall at work and took a bunch of skin off my shin. The run loosened up the aches though.

Snow?!!! I can not imagine. The forcast for my long run tomorrow at 6:30am is 72F with 79% humidity... in other words, yucky! Snow is probably yucky too... but I wouldn't know because it only snows on average once a year here and everyone stays inside like we're in a blizard.

Maybe I should give the HR monitor another try. I hated it because it always showed my HR was too high even though I felt like I was going easy... If I slowed down to what I was supposed to, I'd have been too slow to have any fun. I think I might have a high hr and it makes me nervous.

With heart rate training, have you went out and actually found your max heart rate? Those ballpark figures that you read about are just that, a guess. Find a hill ( might be hard in Texas) and run up it a couple of times at a fair to medium pace and then run it as fast as you can. Then do it one more time and don't hold anything back. That should give you a pretty accurate maximum heart rate. The bill should be a half mile long. Then you can calculate long runs, threshold and easy runs. Mine runs a bit high as well but I do see lower rates as my fitness improves. I don't run with it all the time. Takes the fun out of running.

Nothing funner than looking at a number on my wrist for 2 hours, don't know what you are talking about.

Hey flat... You need a hobby..... other than running!
