Running Accomplishments:

Completed 9 marathons with mixed results. 3:38 being the best out of the 9. It's been several years since I have participated in a marathon. Priorities and health have played a roll with racing the last few years. Hoping to get out and participate and have some fun.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Really want to race again. 5k's to the marathon. Love to qualify to run Boston at some point.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running and family balanced and be as fit as I can so I can run and play with the family.

Personal:

Happily married for some time......5 great kids that overachieve in whatever they choose to do.

Blog titile explanation: Been diagnosed with a brain tumor late 2013. With my lack of confidence in the medical field and just not feeling good about it......I will be running with my friend, "Tiny Tim" until further notice.

Temp about 44 degrees and a breeze around 15 mph. Good day for a run except for the fact that my right ankle is a purple and has increased in size. Last night around mile 4 I felt a little discomfort in my ankle but just brushed it off. Well, that was a mistake! I had trouble just walking last night after the run. This morning it felt better but quite tender but swollen and bruised. We have a retired orthopedic surgeon at work and I got the once over from him. He is a runner too, so I felt confident that I would get the green light in a few days. He told me that it was the anterior something tendonitus. We all know the drill. Rest, ice and drugs. I just wonder if I have been putting too many miles too fast. I have felt pretty good overall. I hope that I can resume running shortly. CRAP!

I don't know much anatomy, but I think most things that end in "itis" are pretty temporary. Hope that turns out to be true.

ahh, that hurts. I think I had the same thing last year, though without much swelling and bruising. Hurt when I lifted my toes toward my shin (dorsiflexed the foot). Less than a week off for me, but maybe it wasn't as serious, not sure. Good luck, hopefully it isn't too long.

flat.. I sure hope so. I am missing some dynamite running weather!

joe... sounds just like it. Hopefully I can be out there shortly. It is a real sharp pain today. Good sign???

Um...not sure about that one! For me, after 3-4 days the anti-inflammatories reduced it to a dull ache where it stayed for a few weeks (while I ran) until the dull ache eventually died off. Any better today?

sharp pains are good because those are phantom pains emanating from your subconscious.

Burt you are full of it ... Whatever it is you are full of

Joe.. walking with a slight limp today. The swelling is down but it is still biting me. I think it is going to be a solid week for sure.
